Tuesday, October 22, 2019 7:00am - 5:00pm
Location: NWMO Oakville Facility
Huron-Kinloss residents will learn first hand about the extensive design, optimization and proof-testing program that is underway to support the safe, long-term management of Canada's used nuclear fuel. This tour will provide the opportunity to see the facility where the NWMO conducts test on a number of aspects related to the Deep Geological Repository (DGR) and related multi-barrier system for the long-term containment and isolation of used nuclear fuel. Current work is focused on the engineered barriers and placement technologies, a safe and secure transportation system, and above and below ground design concepts.
Transportation will be provided. Pre-registration is required as space is limited.
